General Information and Specifications

1. Artwork Requirements

Production time begins when art is approved. All prices and delivery based on approved artwork. UltraService, Inc is not responsible for quality of product unless artwork meets our requirements. If we can adjust supplied artwork to meet our requirements in one hour, we will do so and bill accordingly without calling distributor. If more than one hour is required, we will call before proceeding.

Art Charge: If art requirements are not met art time will be billed at $40.00 (X) per hour. If customer waives the Art Charge, we reserve the right to use submitted artwork as is, or reset as close as possible. We WILL NOT be responsible for any "clean-up" or "rework" deemed necessary to meet production standards.

Electronic Artwork: If artwork follows the guidelines outlined below, NO CHARGES will apply We recommend all files and artwork be sent on disk or by e-mail.

Disk Type: • CD Rom  • 3.5" Floppy  • 3.5" Zip

Document/page layout must be done in one of the following Programs:

• QuarkXPress* (up to 4.0)

• Illustrator (up to 9.0)

• Photoshop (up to 7.0)

and/or submitted as an EPS or TIFF file

Art should be to size and stay 3/32" inside cut lines. Any artwork or copy intended to print to the edge of a magnet must be extended 3/32" outside final cut size. All copy not specifically intended to bleed-off must remain 3/32" inside cut lines.

All original artwork used to create the document must be included on the disk. Embedded images cannot be manipulated or altered. TIFF or EPS images being used for line art need to be scanned and saved at 1200 DPI. TIFF or EPS images for Four Color Process art need to be scanned at 300 DPI and the Image Size saved with 300 pixels per inch at 100% of final print size.

Graphic Files:   -EPS   -TIFF   -VECTORIZED

PDF files are unacceptable.

Fonts: We have the Adobe Font Library. All fonts (screen and printer) used in the document and graphic files must be included on  the disk or transmitted in a font folder. If you are uncertain about what fonts to supply send the complete folder or outline your fonts. We cannot accept TrueType fonts.

Spot Colors: Art must be sent color separated, to size, at 1200 dpi.  Additional charges will apply to convert colors.

4 Color Process Colors: All colors must be Four-Color Process colors (CMYK). We cannot guarantee exact PMS color matches, but will match as close as possible. Images and all type should be in CMYK mode. Additional charges will apply to convert colors.

E-mail Artwork:  E-mail artwork should be in:

- EPS, Tiff, or Vectorized.

- These file formats need to be compressed for transmission.

- The compression should be done with either ZIP or Stuffit.

- Tiff files should be saved with no LZW compression.

- PDF files are unacceptable.

- Send hard copy of artwork with order.

Any necessary alterations to artwork will be made and billed at $40/hour. If other specifications for disk or e-mail art exist, call us for information.

Camera-Ready Artwork: If artwork cannot be sent on disk or by e-mail, please send camera-ready color separated hard copy of artwork, along with a composite proof and any special instructions. Artwork will remain on file for a 2-year period after which time new art will be required.

Definition of Camera-Ready Artwork: Black and white, color-separated art that is clean, crisp and matched to the production method. Drawings, letterhead, photocopies, business cards, faxes and anything less than 1200 dpi are not considered camera-ready art. Call us for art production requirements. If typesetting is needed, art is not considered camera-ready

Helpful Hints:

• Do not send faxes, photo copies, etc. for artwork.

• Tight registration of multi-colored artwork may require additional charges.

• When artwork has colors that touch, colors need to overlap (trap) 1.0 points for silk-screened imprint and .25 point for offset imprint, otherwise art time will be charged.

• For clarity, type art instructions and any ad copy

• Provide a complete layout and mock-up. We are not responsible for misinterpretation of rough layout or unclear copy

• Request a proof to ensure art or color accuracy

• All artwork needs to stay 3/32" inside cut lines. Any artwork/copy intended to print to the edge of a magnet must be extended 3/32" out-side final cut size. All copy not specifically intended to bleed-off must remain 3/32" inside cut lines.

• Remember, the quality of the artwork you submit in large part determines the quality of the product we produce for you.

 

 

Artwork Specifications:

Minimum type size:
6 pt. on most fonts. Finer or lighter fonts require larger point size. Call us for information.

Minimum line thickness:
0.5 pt (1 pt on reverse line art)

Trap: Where silk-screened imprint colors meet for tight registration, a minimum of 1.0 pt. for overlap is required. Where offset imprint colors meet for tight registration, a minimum of .25 pt. for overlap is required.

Screen Tints: (silk-screened and offset): All silk-screened tints must  be sent to the correct size since tints cannot be reduced or enlarged.  A 20% - 70%, 85 dpi to size is required for all silk-screened items.  Any halftone covering 30% or more of imprint area must be offset printed. All offset tints must be 20% - 70%, 133 dpi. All film supplied without disk will incur additional stepping charges. Call for a quote.

One Color Photo and Halftones: Image should be sent on disk or by email. If black and white photo is supplied scan charge of $15.00 applies. If photo is not good quality, UltraService, Inc is not responsible for quality of halftone imprint.

Four-Color Photo and Halftones: $30 00 per scan. Transparencies and slides call for quote.

Typesetting: Items with more than six lines of copy, copy changes, postcard copy curved copy schedules, and word magnets will be billed as needed $40.00 per hour. Only fonts from the Adobe Font Library will be used for typeset orders, unless complete font set is supplied on disk (for screen and printer, PC compatible). The typestyle must be indicated or else it will be left to the discretion of the typesetter.

2. Charges for C.O.D.
Shipping  C.O.D.: $8.00 per box.

3. Charges for Proofs

Fax Proofs: No charge for first proof! For more than one, $9.00 per proof. Please indicate "FAX PROOF" on order, not "Paper Proof."

E-mail Proofs: No charge for proof. Proofs for content only, cannot be used for color approval.

Paper Proof : (Colored laser printouts): $9.00 per proof.

Silk-screened Product Proofs (applies to most flat flexible magnets): $10.00 per color. Custom die-cut samples will have die pattern screened on proof. Actual die will not be made until proof is approved. Product proofs not available on Car Signs.

Offset/Press Proofs (applies to most Smartline cards): Available on all postcards, $50.00 per color, per varnish, per side and/or per copy. All four-color process proofs and skin packaged postcard press proofs must be quoted. Call us for quote. If no proof is provided for four-color process we will produce a matchprint for $75.00 in catalog quantities.

Spot Proofs: $10.00 per proof.

Digital 4 Color Process Proofs: $10.00 per proof.

 

4. Charges for Cancellations or Changes

There will be a minimum $40.00 charge if an order is cancelled or changed after artwork has been prepared. Customer will be required to pay for all work completed at the time of the cancellation or change.

5. Copy Changes
See individual items.

6. Faxed Orders

Due to rough transmissions, orders, copy changes on orders, or proofs that are faxed, must be verified by phone or mail and marked confirming. UltraService, Inc is not responsible for orders or changes faxed but not confirmed. Not responsible for typesetting errors if faxed copy is not legible.

7. Less than Minimum.  Call us for quote.

8. Mailing Service

Call us for quote. Our Smartline Cards have been approved by the U.S. Postal Service. We are not responsible for unaccepted Smartline Cards by local Post Offices. All postage must be paid prior to mailing.

• If mailing list is submitted on disk or label, be sure it's in ASCII text format including a sample of 25 records of the file.

 

9. Measuring Magnets
Flat Magnets are measured by multiplying the maximum length by the maximum width to determine square inches involved.

10. Overruns/Underruns
Plus or minus 5%. Exact quantities, add 15% to invoice total. For orders specifying no overruns, unders could exceed 5%. NO EXCEPTIONS.

11. Packaging
Items packaged bulk or as specified. The following special packaging options are available:

Poly Bags - Flat Flexible Magnets 4" x 6" or smaller can be individually polybagged, .08. Poly bags are FDA approved.

Shrink Wrap - Flat Flexible Magnets can be shrink wrapped in quantities from 25 to 50,.28.All other quantities, call for quote.

Zip Lock Bags - Available upon request, call for quote.

 

12. Payment Terms
Credit Card or Net 30 days with approved credit. All invoices not paid within terms will be assessed a late payment charge of 2% per month.

13. PMS and 4-Color Process Color Matches

LAMINATION MAY SLIGHTLY ALTER COLOR(S).
PMS Color Matches: For PMS color match, add $18.75. Due to variations in inks and raw materials, some matches are not possible. We will match as close as possible.
Four-Color Process Color Matches: PMS color matches are not available. We recommend that a product proof be produced to ensure colors are correct.

14. Production Time
See individual pages. For Special Rush Service, see #16. Production time begins when art and credit are approved.

15. 3-Day Production Time
Available at NO RUSH CHARGE on stock Flat Flexible Magnets. One color imprint on white surface in one of our stock imprint colors. Halftones not available. Does not apply to custom, four-color process, or "5 SPOT Color Promotion" magnets. Catalog quantities only Purchase order must specify "3 Day Production Time." Production time begins after artwork is approved.

16. Rush Service
For orders requiring less than minimum standard production time, a rush charge may apply. Contact us for production time confirmation. Add 20% to invoice in catalog quantities. Minimum rush charge is $40.00. For orders above catalog quantity, call us for quote.

17. Set-Up Charge
Not applicable.

18. Shipping and Handling Information

10% flat fee to cover shipping and handling.
Foreign Shipments: Call us for information and charges. All  prices based on U.S. dollars and do not include tariffs, duties or brokerage fees, payable by recipient.

19. Shipments
Drop Shipments: On same date, $8.50.
Split Shipments: On different dates, $8.50 due within 30 days.
Different Methods: $8.50

STATEMENT OF LIMITED LIABILITY  UltraService, Inc warrants its products against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment. All other warranties including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are expressly disclaimed. UltraService, Inc's obligations with respect to orders placed and/or products delivered to buyer shall be limited to replacement or repair of defective products which are returned to  UltraService, Inc, postage pre-paid, within thirty (30) days from the date of shipping or, at UltraService, Inc's option, to a refund of the amount of the purchase price paid for products returned to UltraService, Inc within thirty (30) days from the date of shipping, without any further obligation or liability on the part of UltraService, Inc. Buyer's sole remedies for liability of any kind with respect to products ordered or furnished by UltraService, Inc and any other performance by UltraService, Inc or with respect to buyer's use thereof, shall be limited to the replacement or repair or refund aforementioned and in no event shall UltraService, Inc be liable or responsible for incidental, special or consequential damages allegedly caused by a failure to timely deliver products, non-delivery of products or a delivery of defective or non-conforming products. No claim of any kind by buyer, whether as to products delivered, non-delivery of products or other faulty performance by UltraService, Inc shall exceed the amount of the purchase price received by UltraService, Inc for the products, and a failure to provide UltraService, Inc with notice of any claim within thirty  (30) days from the date of shipping and failure to return such products within said time shall  constitute a waiver of all such claims in respect to such products. Note: All products and photos with trademarks or logos used in this catalog are to show art and imprint reproduction capability only They do not imply an endorsement by holders of such trademarks or designs. They are not meant to be advertisements nor are these items for sale to anyone other than parties expressly authorized by the owner of such trademarks and logo designs. Also, due to the shrinkage of material during the screening process, copy may not be perfectly centered or registered on each magnet. This applies to all magnets. Due to technological advances in art and manufacturing processes, repeat orders may not be  exact.
